I found out about CalStreets from Rick Tetz himself. Me and some friends were skating in the Westlynn Mall Parking lot one evening. There was this guy freestyle skating and cranking some synth tunes from the back of a tricked out van. We were all impressed with the never ending 360s lol. Rick told us about the shop. Not long after, CalStreets at 11 Lonsdale became a regular hang out for me. And of course, where I bought all my skate gear. Looking at these pics brings back lots of good memories.
During the summer (probably of 85?) Rick and Greg let me hang out behind the counter and setup skates for customers. It was really an amazing shop with a great atmosphere (from a 15 year old kid perspective). Very fond memories! Thanks Cal Streets. I still remember playing Tempest at your Rick’s place off Lonsdale, watching DEVO and Bones Brigade videos with Rick and a group of other local skaters. Fun times. Glad to see CalStreets still going.
