Race. Krimes is an integral part of Colabo Innovations and has helped immensely
in the growth of the team! Video and photo documentation has always been an integral part of Colabo

not only entertained many, but has also been used as a tool in presentations and

Tour De Surrey 2008 RESULTS: Fraser Heights |

It was hot, it was sunny, and it was packed. Approximately 120 people around throughout the day, with 60 competitors, Fraser Heights contest is always a big one. Not one of my favorite parks to skate at, but today's youngsters really like it. It is a full on street-skater park, with tons of ledges and rails of all sizes. It's a really good place for contests. Making up for the poor weather last weekend, Mother Nature decided that I needed a serious sunburn, but I was glad to have such a beautiful day. There were a ton of little kids around and it was quite dangerous for them during the warm-ups with all the big guys ripping up the park. There were a few collisions, but no one was seriously hurt. J.R.
somehow split his forehead open with his own board trying to Acid Drop
onto it. He was cleaned up and rocked a band-aid the rest of the day.
Brent Chreptyk got a mega swellbow that just kept getting bigger, and
Allen Handley took the bail of the day trying to grind the kink rail
down the double set. When your board sticks on the rail, you fly all
the way to the bottom. Last trick in his run, he was tossed over the
entire double set to flat on his side. OUCH!! |

Interview with Rick Tetz creator CalStreets.com
1.. What is CalStreets all about?
Cal Streets is all about respect for skateboarding and skateboarders. One of the most enjoyable parts of being a skater is the socialization and camaraderie with other skaters. Real old school point of view but that was the way it was. This was particularly important when I was competing and skating as part of Team Sims. Without my teammates pushing each other I would never realized my dream of finally winning first in the 1980 Canadian Nationals. I believe skating is about personal freedom and personal responsibility for your actions, not about bean counting and sales.
After working for Canada's largest skateboard distributor, I saw a real lacking in the quality of stores I saw here in Canada (circa 1981). After visiting ValSurf California (Biggest and Best at the Time) I wanted to make CalStreets a destination, not just a shop. And with a few whack ideas and hard work CalStreets was born.
"Michael Brooke: Editor Concrete Wave Magazine Blog Quote: "Rick's shop, Cal Streets has quite a legacy in Vancouver (and beyond!). His shop wasn't just a skate shop, it was a meca. It was perhaps one of the greatest, most successful skateshops on the planet.
Rick promoted CalStreets with a huge amount of marketing and through an extraordinary amount of hard work and perseverance it became the number 1 skate shop in Canada - but I am getting ahead of myself."

The explosive growth of longboarding is undeniable. From freeriding, to sliding, to racing, cruising and carving, all types of skateboarding are getting more exposure than ever. Pockets of riders and small communities are forming and popping up all over the globe.
Although most types of skateboarding are very much male-dominated, there are not surprisingly more and more females getting involved in downhill skateboarding, especially here in BC. Whether it’s because of the endless terrain or the huge population and tight community surrounding the sport (much thanks to Coast Longboarding), the number of women riding here is constantly growing. The first girl to ever race at Danger Bay was Louise Leslie, a.k.a. LouDogg. She was a huge inspiration, and within two years of that there were 11 girls lined up to race. |

Have It Your Way: Skateboard Customization |

Written by Michael Brooke

About eleven years ago, I picked up a book called “The One to One Future.” In this ground-breaking work, authors Don Peppers and Martha Rogers examined what happens when technology allows companies to market to customers on a one to one basis. The book originally was published in 1993 and a decade and a half later, it’s incredible to see how on point they were. I couldn’t help but think about the one to one future while I was preparing this article on skateboard customization. It is my belief that skaters all over the world will pick up on the benefits of having skate gear that is uniquely created for them. This article examines three areas of customization: deck construction, board graphics and grip tape. I am sure it’s only a matter of time when we see truck and wheel customization. Until that moment arrives however, there is still a tremendous amount to explore. |
